Cathy came to us shortly before
her wedding. She wanted to look her best for the big day.
The plan called for overall whitening along with porcelain
veneers for shape and size improvements. But before prepping
the teeth for veneers, we had to consider the color of Cathy's
existing teeth. While porcelain veneers can improve coloration,
the material is somewhat translucent, just like natural teeth.
In Cathy's case, nerve damage had caused significant discoloration
to her front, upper teeth which would be likely to affect
the final appearance — even when covered by the new veneers.
We used an internal bleaching technique to minimize the discoloration
in the existing teeth. This was followed with an overall (external)
whitening treatment with the Zoom system. Four new
front veneers were created matched to the coloring of the
newly-whitened bottoms. With the discoloration of the existing
uppers neutralized, Cathy's veneers matched perfectly.
Congratulations Cathy!
