Nearly 240,000 men are affected by prostate cancer each year but Westend Dental’s Maria Portillo & family are helping spread awareness in honor of Maria’s father-in-law, Patrick Harte.
Patrick was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the spring of 2009 and underwent treatment later that fall. Through his treatment, Patrick discovered that he also had bladder cancer. Despite this, Patrick continued with treatment and eventually beat both cancers. As of now Patrick is proud to say both cancers are in remission and he is enjoying a healthy, full life.
In honor of Patrick, Maria & family are participating in the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run for the second year in a row. The ZERO Prostate Cancer Run is a 5k race that allows individuals and teams to register and fundraise for ZERO, a nonprofit dedicated to ending prostate cancer through research and grassroots initiatives.
For each dollar donated, 89 cents goes towards one of ZERO’s initiatives including patient, family and at-risk individual education, free prostate cancer testing through their mobile testing program and more.
Help us assist ZERO to end prostate cancer! Support Maria & family through their team, Hartes & Souls, in honor of prostate cancer survivor Patrick Harte.
